This a very late melon to grow and to ripen, so if you live in a shorter growing season, this melon is not for you. Although this is a well known variety, there are far better melons to grow. I\'m surprised that it\'s still around.

This is a very late melon to grow and to ripen, and should be grown by only those in long growing seasons. There are far too many better melons to grow. I\'m surprised it\'s still on the market

This is the most successful of a multitude of melons released by the University of Florida. It competed with the Charleston Grey as market melon in 70's and 80's. You will still find versions of it in the market. It grows well here, but flavor is inferior to Crimson Sweet. It is also a large melon. It is a long melon, which does not excessively bottlenose like older cultivars, but still does not yield uniform shape and size.
