I have grown ogen for the last three years. The first year it didn\'t produce very well. The second year is did produce well. This year only one of the four seeds planted came up.The taste is terrific.Unfortunately, the heat and humidity here in central Va, takes its toll on the plants and fruit. It can stand lack of water, but not humidity. The plants are subject to mildews and molds. They will survive them and even produce. It simply lowers the yield ,sometimes, as much as fifty percent. The vines are rather short and compact.I think if you could grow them with some afternoon evening shade it would help drastically.I can\'t do so quite yet. Flavorwise they are worth planting.Just don\'t bank on the ease of growing or reliability of harvest.

This is the same melon sold as Ogen and Haogen. It struggles here in the heat, but was an excellent performer in Virginia. Melons are medium sized (little larger than a softball) green fleshed and delicious. Soft rind makes them very vulnerable to slugs and in Georgia they are very subject to sunscald.
