Our family enjoys acorn squash. But for some years I gave up on growing them on account of borers. Then I came upon Scarchuks Supreme! Wow! This is a very very reliable variety. While not immune to borers it does seem to resist them better than most other c. pepo squash. I can now grow acorn squash and count on a harvest. Flavor is about the same as any acorn squash. We like it late in the summer and early in the fall. Squash like butternut or Hubbard are better for long term storage or pies. I also tried this one for use like a summer squash. It's good. But don't count on production like a zucchini (good? bad? you decide : )
