I tried Strike because it has the shortest days to maturity of any green pea I could find. (55 days). The plan was to get it in as early as possible, pick like crazy for 2 weeks, then pull it and plant short season beans in its place. For me, that meant Strike had to be in before April 15th (we did it, even though spring was pretty late) and out by July 1st. We were able to pull them on June 27th and replant, so it worked well. Plants are extremely dark green, and produce nice dark green peas. I think they were pretty productive but it was a bit hard to tell as we developed a new problem - raccoons discovered them and every morning the race was on - I picked whatever ripened in the morning, and at night anything that ripened in the afternoon was eaten by the raccoons. We have had much less problem with pole peas, as the raccoons can only reach the bottom few. Still, we were able to meet our minimum target for filling our freezer with peas. Flavour is pleasant, although not up to the standards of later peas. Still, we will continue to plant them as they allow us to maximize our garden harvest.

A very early wrinkled seeded pea. Short vines (mine only got about 16 inches) but load up heavily. Pretty much a once over crop. Not quite up to Dakota but a very good early pea.
