In 2014 we did our first trial of Painted Pony Beans which we received from SeedSavers. Their descriptor reads "A very distinct variety of American origin. One of the best for soups, retains markings when cooked." The plants seemed to languish in our cooler start to summer this year on the South Shore of Lake Ontario in upstate New York. They finally kicked in during late July with a moderate yield. the tasty beans worked well in soups and provided a great base. We will plant again in 2015.
