This is the first Kohlrabi I've ever grown (or eaten). Good experience overall. Seed germinated very easily. 1/2 my crop were started indoors, and 1/2 outside. Both are doing well. Taste is good, though I have no other Kohlrabi experience to compare it to. Very easy plant to grow with kids, and we all enjoyed eating it raw in a salad and in a coleslaw. Somewhat smaller than seed pack stated, around 2.5 inches, though they are growing in an area with filtered shade in the afternoon. Will definitely grow them again.

A workhorse variety for me. It produces reliably without bolting. Later in the season I harvest them with pruning shears because the stem can be woody, but even then if peeled the inside is tender.

I agree for the most part with the previous poster's description, with the exception that based on our experience here with this mild tasting 'rabi (grown during in a well above average rainfall period) is that your growouts may possibly be somewhat larger, (approximately 3 to 3-1/2 ") before beginning to become woody, depending upon local weather conditions. At that size or slightly smaller, either used alone or 2 at a time in a recipie of my wife's, it works out well as a side dish for 1 or 2 people with no leftovers. The vegetable's characteristic size was my ONLY reason for limiting the yield rating to a 3. With a crushed eggshell circle to ward off slugs during a very wet May/June here in Tennessee, and using 8" spacing, this was a very easy one to grow-even with a very late start.

A good open polinated cultivar. I prefer the purple top as a larger cultivar that does not get woody as quickly. Hybrid versions like Grand Duke also outperform White Vienna.

I grew these for the first time last year. They were so prolific I didn't know what to do with them all. They will get woody if left in the ground too long. Pick when 2-3 inches round.
