This was a real disappointment for me. Although I got good yields, the size and performance was sub par. Although this melon is supposed to average around 40 lbs., mine averaged around 10. The largest one was only 20 lbs and was the only one to fully ripen. There are better black diamond varieties than to waste your time growing florida giant.

This melon is another improved Black Diamond selected for size. Taste and appearance is about the same as Black Diamond. It is more uniform in growth and is a shade more dependable. If they get size, they are good, but they do not size down well. Less than 20 pounds, very poor flavor and texture.
