No earlier than other tomato varieties grown next to it. No disease problems. Fruits are very firm, with small seed cavities. Good for cooking. The plant in the variety trial was prolific.

Nice flavor but leaves developed brown and white spots, possible blight.

This new Harris variety replaced Macero II, so I tried it this year. In spite of record cold, wet weather and a major late blight exposure in the area, Pony Express carried the mail! Large fruit with solid interior and few seeds. Tastes as good as any plum tomato I have grown. Sets in waves giving you time to process each pick. This isn't one of those little plum type tomatoes, but it makes great sauce and whole canning.
