Lehigh is one of our favorite potatoes. It is easy to grow, one does not have to take any special precautions. It yields well, it keeps exceptionally well, it tastes good, it is yellow-fleshed. What more can one ask? Indeed, as many Pennsylvania growers have noted, despite major storms such as Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, their crops of Lehigh potatoes came through like champions, without damage from being underwater for a while. They now request their potatoes by variety name: Lehighs. We cannot give Lehigh any higher accolade. Also, please note that Lehighs are yellow-fleshed which are inherently higher in carotenoid content and are therefore more healthful than white-fleshed potatoes. Lehigh ought to be regarded as a more reliable and more productive replacement for Yukon Gold. Anyone trying to grow Yukon Gold will know what we are saying.
