We buy our Halloween pumpkins in the grocery store, and I dump the seeds and guts into the garden after they\'re carved. The seeds continue to sprout and grow for almost a year, although we\'ve never had any of the flowers pollinate. |

Despite the worst year I've ever seen for pumpkin growers in New England (I didn't see the first babies until almost mid-August), Giant Magic still managed to yield some pretty 18-pounders! Mostly Long, Howden-like fruits, but there were some nice round ones and really a variety of shapes and sizes to please everyone. Firm, sweet flesh, decent for eating and very easy to scoop for carving. I can only imagine how they'd produce in a good growing year. Don't be tricked by the name -- these aren't "giant" like Atlantic Giants; they're just really hefty jack-o-lantern pumpkins. |
