Garden Size: Large - More than 1,600 square feet (40' x 40')

Charlene grows well here. It is more blocky than Charleton Grey and has better flavor. Does not put on the early crown set of competitors Crest and Greystone but equals them in productivity over the course of the season. A very satisfactory melon in this class. Not as good eating as the Allsweet / Crimson Sweet derivatives but it is almost impervious to sunscald.
