Description: F1 hybrid. Sweet, Granex type (Granex was developed cooperatively by the USDA and the Texas Agriculture Station and released in 1952). Tops are dark green with 7 to 8 leaves with 2 skins. Bulbs are light bronze, tight skin and firm with wide interior rings. This is a short-day onion that requires 10 to 12 hours of daylight at the end of its growth cycle to bulb up. Short-day onions grow well in southern states.

Sun Exposure: More than 8 hours per day

An excellent Granex type hybrid that does well here. Used commercially to grow "Vidalia" onions. Transplanted in December for May harvest. Sapelo Sweet is larger and has more disease resistance than the original Granex hybrid.
