In my childhood we grew Thomas Laxton and Little Marvel. Switched to Blue Bantam in the early 50\'s. It outperformed both of the. Grew many varieties in the intervening years and decided to plant Blue Bantam just for nostalgia when Burpee reintroduced it. I was surprised that this old variety is still a good performer. It can\'t keep up with varieties like Green Arrow or PLS 595 in yield but overall it does well.
