Always dependable, prolific, non-bitter, almost seedless, good fresh & pickled. Thin skin. Not bothered by beetles. Vines grow rapidly on trellis to over 6 ft. Long harvest season.

I really do not like to grow hybrids. I am all about the seed-saving. However, I had several requests that I grow a burpless, non-bitter English style cucumber this year, so I picked this one. Good choice! People just love it! It has been easy to grow too; germinated readily, grew nicely once in the garden, started producing cucumbers early and has just kept going through heat and drought (kept watered) and cooler, rainier weather too. The vines are smaller and more compact than any of our other cucumbers, so they will need some trellising but a sturdy tomato cage, for instance, would be sufficient. I did plant one extra plant that I had left over in amongst some other cucumbers, but that plant, while it grew, has not produced anything much - so the message is do not crowd them. UPDATE: in a much hotter and drier year, with pressures from squash bugs and cucumber beetles, this cucumber really failed to come through. Low fruit set, and the ones formed have been so covered in scars and scabs as to be inedible. Pretty much a write-off. So, back to the drawing board for a burpless cuke next year.

All female. Bears profusely after it gets started. Nice shape, small seed cavity, about 12" long and 11/2 diameter. Sweet taste, non-bitter skin. Best feature: no seeds to get in the way & great taste! Raised mine on 5' wire cages. Healthy looking vines. May last all summer.
