Description: USER ENTERED : Heirloom Cantaloupes originating in Italy. Unique appearance, deeply ribbed.Young melons are dark greenish black ripening to a yellowish orange in appearance. Fragrant. Sweet orange flesh. It is considered one of the tastiest of melons and in Italy it is referred to as Brutto ma Buono, which means "ugly but sweet". Approx 85-90 days til ripe. Thomas Jefferson planted and grew Zatta di Massa melons at Montecello. There is also a variety known as Zatta Arancina.
