Really tasty lettuce. Takes longer to get to harvest than leaf lettuce, but well worth the extra wait. This variety was the last of my lettuce varieties to bolt, lasting to sometime in July. Holds dressing well in salads.

Planted seed 4/25/17. Prolific producer. Great taste. Harvested weekly. Removed from trial beds to plant tomatoes and transplanted in other locations. This could have been left in longer for more harvesting.

Great variety with a nice flavor. We cut our first planting 2 times before pulling and reseeding the bed for 2 more additional harvests! Harvest when \"young\" for the best tasting leaves.

We had to plant this variety three times because it seemed as though a four legged furrie visitor liked this lettuce more than any others. However, we did manage to get some heads. Very nice small heads that kept its flavor and crispness

Buttercrunch is an excellent tasting lettuce with a lot of substance and texture. The first planting made in early May germinated well and was slow to blot. A second planting made in late July had weak germination and had to be repeated twice to fill out the row. I would recommend this lettuce as a cool weather crop.

Taste is absolutely delicious! Good enough to eat straight out of the garden; definitely my favourite lettuce. Smaller compact heads make excellent single-serve salads. Slow to bolt in our cool summer and almost no loss due to sun damage or bugs. Very easy to grow and propagate, I allowed some of mine to go to seed and it has self-sowed for a second and now third year.

Very late to bolt and never bitter taste. It also has that classic lettuce taste. What else do I need from a letuce? It's my all time favorite list. I started the seeds indoor, that's why I gave 4 to ease/reliability.

I'm having a great time growing this this year. I started picking leaves a month or so ago. It does form loose heads which I've recent started picking. It's holding up well to July's heat without bolting or getting bitter. Aphids love the seedlings, but this lettuce has been very prolific despite aphids slugs & snails.

There are five distinct types of lettuce ? leaf (also known as looseleaf), Cos or Romaine, crisphead, butterhead and stem (also called asparagus lettuce). Slow bolting leaf lettuce can be grown in summer but is not particularly tasty. Crisp Romaine is flavorful, sweet and can be blended with other varieties. However, butterheads are my personal favorites and among them, Buttercrunch is truly outstanding. This delicious lettuce has thick, juicy leaves, a light yellow blanched center and a buttery flavor combined with unique texture that no other lettuce can match. I have grown many different lettuce varieties over the years but always come back for more Buttercrunch. Wait until Buttercrunch develops a full head, for thinnings or baby leaves use other types.

Grew this for many seasons. I grow from transplants and seed. Excellent early in cooler weather and fall. Becomes looser in heat but still good. Relatively pest free.

A good fall/winter/spring lettuce in south Georgia. When it gets some size it makes a nice little head is just right for 2 salads. Never really seen it bitter. If you row cover it, it will survive to low 20's at night (not for an extended period), especially when young. Matures relatively quickly. Must stagger your planting or you'll have too much at one time. Taste is good, but green leaves are slightly limp/slimy.

We love the crunch and sweet taste of this lettuce. It can be picked as leaves or heads. If you cut the head off carefully, leaving 3 or 4 leaves on the plant, new little heads will grow at each leaf juction - a good way to stretch production especially toward the end of the growing season.

Buttercrunch has been a good lettuce for me. It resists bolting well so I usually get 2 to 3 spring plantings and still get at least 2 more plantings in the fall. I've also grown this lettuce inside during the winter.
