This lettuce HATES excessive rain, but was very good in a dry summer. Have grown two years in a row as a summer lettuce with remarkably different results making it difficult to give ratings. In the dry year it was great. Holds up really well to the heat, lasting through almost the entire summer and has a much more delicate texture and flavor than other summer lettuces. Might never be the only lettuce that I grow, but in a dry year it adds great color and amazing texture and flavor to a summer lettuce blend. And the colored butterhead shape looks great in the garden with other lettuces. At least 4 stars in dry years. The problem is wet years. Rotted doesn't do justice. This lettuce all but disintegrated in the excessive rain of 2008 and seemed to cause damage to other adjacent varieties in the process. I'm not sure I recovered even a single head from an entire packet of seeds. Zero stars in a wet year.
