Wow, did this little squash impress us! Despite a really lousy year and being in a bed in which things tend to struggle, these babies pumped out plenty of patty pans to eat, share, and sell. A seedling customer requested them, and I am glad she did. We are now hooked. Creamy beautiful fruit in plants that kept doing despite PM and which shrugged off borer attack. (It was a bad borer year, among other challenges.) Tasty, prolific, and a wonderful surprise for our season.

This is a great little squash. The plants are compact and easy to manage in a four foot wide raised bed. The produce well here. The flesh is very fine grained, the texture is fantastic. Skin is quite thin and fairly fragile, like most squash. The skin starts out pale green and as the fruit grows larger, the green gradually fades to white. We pick them around three inches in diameter and coat them in egg and Italian bread crumbs and fry them. Excellent!

This is basicly a light green version of the White Bush Scallop (pattypan). Yield and taste is virtually the same. It produces well for an open pollinated squash.
