| I\'m currently growing the nantes carrots variety in my backyard garden. They are about a couple months old, and have suffered no pests or diseases so far. I am, however, having difficulty with having straight roots. This could probably be attributed to the fact that my garden has heavier soil. Otherwise, a decent carrot variety so far. |

| Workhorse carrot for us here. Productive and tasty. Reasonably short season. No issues. I have some small ones in now which might have gone in a little late... might have to cover them. Would like to try storing them in the ground... can\'t have enough!! |

| I plant this carrot as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring. If thinned early it produces consistent reliable crops by fall. They store till spring in a pit in the garden. About 1% of the crop splits lengthwise during the growing season. I've never had an insect or mildew problem with this variety. A few plants are infected with nematodes each year. |

| In my area (zone 5) and with my soil (clay) this carrot did not do well. I planted it for a fall crop on August 7, and by October they were still only the size of my pinky finger. Perhaps they did not have enough growing days, but it was very hot before that and not good planting for new carrot seeds. I had tried a spring planting also, but before they were grown, it was too hot for them. Perhaps they need to be planted in the shade. |
