Lettuce Leaf basil is wonderful - (i read somewhere that it is a Japanese variety so not sure why \"Toscano\") Anyway, I used it for pizza and thai stir frys mostly and it always tasted amazing.

A nice basil. Not as mildly flavored as I was expecting. (I found it too strong for use in salads.) I bought my seeds from GrowItalian.com (where the variety is listed as 'a foglie di lattuga')

We grow this basil every year. Compared to Genovese, the plant is much more compact and very easy to manage in a small space, though it is not quite as aromatic. Flavor is very good and this is an excellent choice for pesto. We use the smaller leaves in salads and pasta dishes. Overall, a versatile basil that is very easy to grow. Plants are less than two feet tall and although mine are in beds, I think these would grow well in a ten to twelve inch pot if kept well watered.

I love the large leaves... not so many midribs to cut out. The flavor is wonderful. It grows best if cut back for use and kept watered. Mine suffered during drought but it was not their fault I didn't water often enough.
